The idea that God watches over you is meant to be comforting. It’s meant to remind you that no matter how isolated—how alone—you feel God is always watching over you.
One of my favorite Bible verses is 2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the LORD move to and for throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”
God is watching over His children. He looks at His children with love in His eye. His desire is to care for them. The verse uses the phrase, “strongly support”. God is actively caring for us.
I met an individual in an assisted living facility with a very interesting life. He served in the military during the Vietnam conflict. His job was very dangerous. He was exposed to agent orange. His body developed cancer.
Whenever we visited, he would tell me stories of how the Lord had watched over him. One time he told me he was concerned about his finances and paying his expenses. I shared one of my favorite verses with him, 2 Chronicles 16:9. We prayed to the LORD whose eyes move to and for throughout the earth to strongly support those whose heart is completely His.
In a future visit, he was holding a letter from the Department of Veterans’ affairs. The letter told him he was to receive a benefit from his service in Vietnam. The amount was able to meet his needs.
The longer we live, the more we are reminded that we can trust God. The LORD watches over us.
